Sod calculator
How the calculation works
- Area: we add up every shape you enter and subtract the ones marked as cut-outs.
- Area to order: the lawn area plus the waste margin for cuts along edges and curves.
- Pieces and pallets: area to order divided by the area of one piece and by the coverage of one pallet, rounded up.
Worked example
A 30 × 20 ft lawn with the default piece size, waste margin and pallet coverage.
- Lawn area
- 600 sq ft
- Sod to order
- 630 sq ft
- Pieces
- 237
- Pallets
- 2

Limitations
- Piece size and pallet coverage vary by farm and grass type: confirm both with your supplier.
- Irregular lawns with curves or many obstacles need a larger margin.
